Hamilton at West Herr Auditorium Theatre

Debuting in 2015 and running for almost a decade, Hamilton took Broadway by storm bringing a innovative approach. Based on Ron Chernow’s book about Alexander Hamilton, we learn the story of Alexander Hamilton’s humble beginnings and rise to power as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. A unique story that is both historical and clever, Hamilton has been hailed as fearless in its storytelling and has left its mark on politics, culture, and our youth.

It was created by American composer and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda who is also known for his numerous accomplishments in both Broadway and film, also creating the score and lyrics for previous Broadway play called "In the Heights", another Tony award-winning spectacle, and is also the creator of music and lyrics in popular musical movies such as Moana. This hit musical, featuring a ethinically diverse cast, is set to a score that combines new genres like hip-hop, jazz, R&B, which has made Hamilton all the more revolutionary and exciting by bringing these genres to the stage. Broadway hits such as “Satisfied”, “Wait For It”, and “You’ll Be Back”, have been considered as Broadways best memorable songs from the musical since its Broadway release. Lin-Manuel Miranda has said that his music inspiration for Hamilton to become top rap and hip hop artists of America, he wanted to marry the two different genres together, something that was unheard of. The music of Hamilton is praised hugely by New York critics alike, compared to the other Broadway shows produced today, Hamilton proves to be more fast-paced and engaging than many.

Hamilton has since gone on to achieve a record-breaking 11 Tony Awards and 16 Tony nominations, Grammy Awards, Olivier Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, and even a special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors. So far, Hamilton has achieved success all over the world as it continues its global tour, including the continents of Europe and Asia.

Hamilton is now available this fall in West Herr Auditorium Theatre, the leading theater for the arts in Rochester, where former musicals have proved to be successful. Tickets for the Saturday 22nd November 2025 show are limited as Hamilton will only be running for a short time in West Herr Auditorium Theatre during November.
