Hamilton at West Herr Auditorium Theatre

Debuting in 2015 and running for almost 10 years now, Hamilton took Broadway by storm with its fresh approach. Based on Ron Chernow’s book about Alexander Hamilton, it tells the life story of Alexander Hamilton’s early years and rise to power as one of the Founding Fathers of the USA. This is a profound story that is both historical and clever, Hamilton is still to this day hailed as revolutionary in its storytelling that has left its mark on politics, culture, and education.

It was created by American composer and lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda who is also known for his numerous accomplishments in movies, Broadway and more, also creating the music and lyrics for his former Broadway play In the Heights, another Tony award-winning showcase. Miranda is also the creator of music and lyrics in several notable musical films such as Moana. The hit musical, featuring a ethinically diverse cast, has showtunes in a style that combines new genres like hip hop, jazz, R&B and more, which has made Hamilton all the more revolutionary and engaging by bringing these genres to the Broadway stage. Songs such as “Satisfied”, “Wait For It”, and “You’ll Be Back”, have been considered as Broadways best memorable songs from the production since its Broadway release. Lin-Manuel Miranda has said that his music inspiration for Hamilton came from top rap and hip-hop rappers of America, he wanted to marry the two different genres together, something that was unheard of. The showtunes of Hamilton is praised hugely by New York critics alike, as compared to other Broadway shows that have been staged, Hamilton continues to be more fast-paced and fun than many.

Hamilton has since gone on to achieve a record-breaking 11 Tony Awards and an extra 16 Tony nominations, Grammy Awards, Olivier Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, and even a special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors. To date, Hamilton has achieved success all over the world as it continues its global tour, including the continents of Europe and Asia.

Hamilton is now available this fall in West Herr Auditorium Theatre, the top theater for the arts in Rochester, where former shows have been received incredibly well. Tickets for the Saturday 29th November 2025 show are numerous as Hamilton will only be running for a short time in West Herr Auditorium Theatre during November.
